These elements have the advantage of having a more rapid heat response time and radiate to a wider spectrum of temperature and wavelength than ceramic elements. However they do not have the same intensity and brightness of the quartz halogen lamps.

They are also very good when uniformity of heating is critical and very useful when zone heating is required. These properties give these elements various advantages in industrial applications and are now being used more often in thermoforming machines
